science

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Vitamin D’s real job is to open the door. It’s what lets your body absorb calcium out of the food you eat.

But absorbing calcium is only half the story. Where that calcium goes next matters just as much — and that’s K2’s job. As MK-7, it helps activate the proteins that direct calcium toward your bones and teeth.

Magnesium helps switch vitamin D into the form your body can use. And because D3 and K2 are both fat-soluble, they’re suspended in coconut oil inside the softgel itself — the fat comes with the capsule, so you’re not relying on what you happened to eat that morning.

Four parts. Four jobs. One softgel.

WHAT CAN VITAMIN D3 + K2 HELP WITH?

Most people come to vitamin D for one reason and stay for several.

Bones, teeth and muscles. D3 and K2 are the pair your skeleton runs on. D3 makes calcium available; K2 helps make sure it’s actually put to good use. If staying strong as I get older is somewhere on your mind, this is the routine that quietly supports it.

Everyday immune support. Vitamin D is one of the nutrients your immune system leans on hardest — and the one most of us run lowest on through the darker half of the year.

Energy through the day. Vitamin D is the nutrient we’re meant to get from sunlight. Most of us, indoors most of the week, simply don’t. Topping it back up is one of the simplest things you can do for how you feel day to day.

Heart and circulation. Calcium belongs in your bones. K2 helps keep it heading in that direction.

One habit instead of five. D3, K2, magnesium and a fat to carry them. The four things that work best together — already together, in one softgel.

link

WHY D3 + K2 TOGETHER?

Here’s the bit most people have slightly backwards: K2 doesn’t help you absorb vitamin D. The two do different jobs, one after the other.

D3 lets calcium in. K2 decides where it goes.

That’s why the pairing makes sense. A generous dose of D3 on its own means your body takes in more calcium. Adding K2 gives it the second half of the instruction — toward your bones and teeth, and away from the places you’d rather it didn’t settle.

And not all K2 is the same. MK-7 is the one that stays with you. It remains in circulation for roughly 48 to 72 hours, where MK-4 is measured in hours. That’s the difference between one softgel a day genuinely being one softgel a day, and one that’s finished working before dinner.

WHAT SHOULD I KNOW?

The softgel shell is gelatin, so this one isn’t vegan or vegetarian.

Contains tree nuts (coconut).

This is a generous daily dose of vitamin D. If you’re pregnant or nursing, taking medication — blood thinners especially — or managing a health condition, have a quick word with your healthcare provider before starting. Worth doing anyway if you’ve never had your levels checked.

The second criterion

You already know the rule. Here’s the part it leaves out.

Everyone says take K2 with your D3. Almost nobody tells you what to look at next.

Two supplement bottles illustrating how similar-looking formulas can differ

The rule got you here, and the rule is right. Vitamin D and K2 belong together.

But the rule stops exactly where the decision starts. It gets you to the shelf and then leaves you standing in front of forty bottles that all say the same two words on the front.

So here’s the criterion the rule doesn’t give you. Two things separate one D3 + K2 bottle from the next, and neither of them is printed on the front:

  • The form of the K2.

“K2” on a label can mean MK-4 or MK-7. MK-7 is the one that stays with you — around 48 to 72 hours in circulation. MK-4 is measured in hours. Two bottles can print the identical K2 number and behave completely differently by dinnertime.

  • What it’s carried in.

D3 and K2 are fat-soluble. They need a fat to travel with. Which means every softgel contains an oil, and that oil is a decision somebody made on your behalf — usually the cheapest one available, usually a seed oil, usually not mentioned anywhere on the front of the pack.

Buzzlix uses K2 as MK-7, in coconut oil.

That’s it. That’s the second criterion. It costs nothing to check, it takes ten seconds, and it’s the difference between buying a D3 + K2 bottle and buying the right one.

The correction

D3 lets calcium in. K2 decides where it goes.

This is the bit almost everybody has backwards — including most of the people telling you to take them together.

Ask around and you’ll be told that K2 helps you absorb vitamin D.

It doesn’t. That’s not what it does.

They’re two separate jobs, running one after the other:

  1. Step one

    D3 opens the door.

Vitamin D3’s role is calcium absorption. It’s what allows the calcium in your food to get out of your gut and into your bloodstream. More D3, more calcium available.

  2. Diagram illustrating vitamin D and vitamin K2 working in sequence
  3. Step two

    K2 gives it directions.

Once calcium is in there, something has to tell it where to go. That’s K2’s job. It activates the proteins that route calcium into your bones and teeth — and away from the places you’d rather it didn’t collect.

That’s the whole mechanism, and it’s why the pairing is worth caring about. Taking a strong dose of D3 by itself means bringing more calcium in. Taking D3 with K2 means bringing more calcium in and giving your body the instruction for what to do with it.

One nutrient does the absorbing. The other does the directing. You want both halves of the sentence.

The four-part system

Four parts. Four jobs. One softgel.

Nothing in here is filler. Each one is doing something the others can’t.

Vitamin D3Brings it in.

250 mcg · 10,000 IU · as Cholecalciferol

The one your body is supposed to make from sunlight, and the one almost nobody makes enough of. D3 is what allows calcium to be absorbed in the first place — and it’s the nutrient behind the bone, muscle and immune support you came here for. A generous daily amount, so your levels have somewhere to go.

Vitamin K2 — as MK-7Sends it where it belongs.

300 mcg · as Menaquinone-7

Absorbing calcium is only useful if it ends up in the right place. K2 activates the proteins that route it into bones and teeth. MK-7 stays in circulation for roughly 48 to 72 hours, against MK-4’s hours. One softgel that’s still working tomorrow.

MagnesiumSwitches it on.

15 mg elemental · from 100 mg Triple Magnesium Complex

Vitamin D doesn’t arrive ready to use — your body has to convert it, and magnesium is part of how that conversion happens. Three forms are used here: malate, glycinate and citrate. It’s here as a cofactor for the D3, not as a magnesium supplement.

Coconut oilCarries it in.

D3 and K2 are both fat-soluble. Without a fat to travel with, they don’t go far. Rather than leaving that to whatever you happened to eat, the fat is already in the softgel — and it’s coconut oil, not a seed oil. It’s the single easiest thing to check on a label, and the one most people never look at.

Four components. Four assigned jobs. One softgel, once a day.

Run the four checks

Four things worth checking. On this bottle or any other.

Go and get whatever’s in your cupboard right now. This takes about a minute.

Checking the back label of a supplement bottle alongside a Buzzlix pouch

There’s no honest way for us to tell you we’re the best one. What we can do is hand you the four things that actually separate one bottle from another — and then show you exactly how this one answers each of them.

Run it on ours. Run it on the one you’re already taking. That’s the point.

The form of the K2Check 1 of 4
What to check
Does the label say MK-7, or just “Vitamin K2”?
Why it matters
MK-7 stays in circulation roughly 48 to 72 hours. MK-4 is measured in hours. Same number on the front, very different day.
Buzzlix
300 mcg, as MK-7. Printed on the panel, not just the front.
The actual numbersCheck 2 of 4
What to check
Does it give you a number, or an adjective?
Why it matters
“Extra Strength” and “High Potency” aren’t measurements. The Supplement Facts panel is where the truth lives, and it’s the only part of the pack that has to be accurate.
Buzzlix
250 mcg / 10,000 IU of D3. 300 mcg of K2. 15 mg elemental magnesium. Every number stated, in front and on the panel.
What’s carrying itCheck 3 of 4
What to check
Turn the pack over and read the Other Ingredients line. Which oil is in there?
Why it matters
D3 and K2 need a fat to travel with, so there’s always an oil. Most people have never read which one, and it’s usually the cheapest available.
Buzzlix
Coconut oil. That’s the carrier, and it’s inside the softgel — so the fat comes with the capsule.
What else is in thereCheck 4 of 4
What to check
Read the full Other Ingredients line, all of it, to the end.
Why it matters
It’s the shortest line on the pack and the most revealing. It’s also where anything you’d rather avoid tends to be hiding.
Buzzlix
Coconut Oil, Gelatin, Glycerin, Purified Water. That’s the complete list. The gelatin shell does mean this one isn’t vegan or vegetarian — we’d rather say that here than have you find it after it arrives.

Four checks. About a minute. Do it to us before you buy, and do it to whatever’s already in your cupboard.

The conceded weakness

The quiet fourth ingredient.

It’s in here for a reason, and the reason isn’t magnesium.

Vitamin D doesn’t turn up ready to use. Your body has to convert it into its active form first — and magnesium is part of how that conversion happens.

So there’s magnesium in here. Three forms of it: malate, glycinate and citrate, together as a 100 mg Triple Magnesium Complex, giving 15 mg elemental.

To be straight with you: that’s a cofactor amount, not a magnesium supplement. If you’re taking magnesium separately for sleep, cramps or anything else, keep doing that — this isn’t replacing it. It’s here so the D3 has what it needs, which is a different job entirely.

Most D3 + K2 formulas leave it out. We’d rather it was in there.

The formula, start to finish

Everything vitamin D needs, in the order it needs it.

Absorbed. Directed. Activated. Delivered.

  2. 02DirectedVitamin K2 — 300 mcg as MK-7
  3. 03ActivatedMagnesium — 15 mg elemental
  4. 04DeliveredCoconut oil carrier, inside the softgel

Most vitamin D products give you the first ingredient and stop.

This one gives you the whole sequence — the nutrient, the one that tells it where to go, the one that switches it on, and the fat that carries all of it in. Four decisions, made once, so you don’t have to make them four separate times at four separate prices.

One softgel. One glass of water. Once a day, for thirty days.

Then do it again next month, because that’s how vitamin D works — it builds.

FAQ

Questions people ask

The four checks, the mechanism and the label — answered in short.

Why does K2 go with D3?

Because they do two different jobs, one after the other. D3 lets calcium into your system. K2 activates the proteins that decide where that calcium ends up — toward bones and teeth. Worth knowing: K2 doesn’t help you absorb vitamin D, which is what most people assume. It’s the step after.

What does “MK-7” mean, and does the form matter?

It matters more than the number does. K2 comes in two main forms. MK-7 stays in circulation for roughly 48 to 72 hours; MK-4 is measured in hours. Two bottles can print the exact same K2 figure and behave completely differently across a day. This one is MK-7.

Why is there coconut oil in a vitamin capsule?

Because D3 and K2 are fat-soluble — they need a fat to travel with. Every softgel has an oil in it for that reason; most people have just never read which one. This one uses coconut oil, and it’s inside the softgel, so you’re not depending on what you had for breakfast.

Why only 15 mg of magnesium?

Fair question, and here’s the straight answer: it’s a cofactor amount, not a magnesium supplement. Your body needs magnesium to convert vitamin D into its active form, so it’s here to support the D3. If you take magnesium separately, keep taking it — this doesn’t replace it.

How does this compare to other D3 + K2 bottles?

Check four things and you’ll know: the form of the K2 (MK-7 or MK-4), whether the dose is a real number or an adjective, which oil is carrying it, and the full Other Ingredients line. Run those on ours, then run them on whatever’s in your cupboard.

What’s in it, exactly?

250 mcg (10,000 IU) Vitamin D3 as cholecalciferol · 300 mcg Vitamin K2 as MK-7 · 15 mg elemental magnesium from 100 mg Triple Magnesium Complex. Other ingredients: coconut oil, gelatin, glycerin, purified water. The full panel is above.

How do I take it?

One softgel daily, with a meal and an 8 oz glass of water. 30 softgels, so a bottle is a month.

Is it vegan or vegetarian?

No. The softgel shell is gelatin. If that’s a dealbreaker, this isn’t the one for you and we’d rather tell you now.

Does it contain allergens?

Yes — it contains tree nuts (coconut). No wheat, gluten, dairy, corn, soy, eggs, lactose, yeast or fish.

Can I take this with my medication?

Check with your healthcare provider first — particularly if you take a blood thinner, are pregnant or nursing, or are managing a health condition. Vitamin K interacts with anticoagulant medication, so that conversation is worth having before you start rather than after.
